The Construction Management Construction Stormwater General Permitting module provides discussion on the federal requirements for earthwork and stormwater permits. The module requires pertinent portions of the Environmental Protection Agency Planing Guide for Construction and Development, focusing on the checklists provided in order to create the narrative or written portion of the permit. Additionally, there is a review of site drawings that will inform and provide example locations for determining responses to correspond with the written portion of the permit.

The Construction Management Construction Site Erosion Control module is based upon the 2022 National Pollutant Discharge System (NPDES) which is regulated through the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). A description of Erosion, Runoff, and Sediment control measures is provided. The module illustrates the NPDES website as a resource for Erosion, Runoff, and Sediment control measures. Example are provided for a variety of control measures like compost blankets, dust control, and soil roughening. The discussion includes changes to the 2022 requirements like the new Runoff Control measures category. In addition to Control Measure, the module includes Best Management Practices (BMPs) for Good Housekeeping and Materials Management. These BMPs typically revolve around a clean job site and litter control. The module concludes with a discussion of Inspections and Maintenance as a Construction Site Planning and Management consideration.

1 Hours | 0.1 CEUs

The Construction Management Construction Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) module provides a basic outline of the National Pollutant Discharge System (NPDES) permitting process. The module begins with an overview of why Construction Stormwater Pollution Prevention is focuses on Erosion, Runoff, and Sediment control to limit sediment as a pollutant. Permitting at the federal, state, and local level is described at a basic level. Tools that are available through federal and state governments are presented as aids for the permitting process. A simple site plan, as a drawing, is provided as and illustration of the permit requirements.
