Full course description

This course is an introduction to fire suppression and detection systems. Course topics include fire science, fire behavior, fire suppression system components and functions, fire detection and alarm system components and function, operating principles of various types of fire detection and fire control devices, and emergency action/fire prevention plans. Upon course completion students will understand some standard terminology used in the fire protection field, be able to explain the basic chemistry and physics involved in fire and combustion and understand automatic fire suppression operation and fire detection system operation.
